Thumbprint Jam Cookies

           1 3/4 cup flour
           1/2 teaspoon baking powder
           1/2 teaspoon salt
           3/4 cup butter, softened
           1/2 cup sugar
           1 egg
           1 teaspoon vanilla
           1/3 cup jam, assorted flavors

           Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

           In a large bowl whisk together flour,
           baking powder an salt. In mixing bowl
           beat butter and sugar about 3 minutes
           until pale and fluffy. Beat in egg and
           vanilla. Add flour mixture in two batches
           until mixed well. On a parchment lined cookie
           sheet scoop 1 inch rolled dough balls. Press a
           1/2 inch thumbprint in each cookie; fill with jam.
           Bake for 12-15 minutes until the edges are golden
           brown. Cool on baking sheet.
